Are you having problems with Android Market, like Android Market force closing, Android Market opens and closes after sometime or the downloading of a application stalling / paused at “Starting Download…” screen and starts after a very long time. Then here are the two solutions you could apply to get rid of the above mentioned problems with Android Market.

  1. The above can be caused if you are having problems with GApps. A simple solution is just to Sign In to Google Talk on your Android phone. And you will see that immediately all your applications will start downloading!
  2. Secondly if your Android Market is force closing or closes after 10-15 seconds, then you should clear the cache of your Market.
    • Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> (tap on Menu key and Select Filter) -> select “All”
    • Scroll to “Market” (don’t open the Android Market application) and tap on it
    • Tap Clear Cache

Now you should be able to use Android Market normally.

Bob, first cancel the downloads. Then sign out and the sign in to gtalk on your Android.
Then goto Market and install the apps. This works everytime for me!

Another possible cause is the router itself.
I had my router set up to block certain webpages – nothing to do with the market.
When I removed all the filters/blocks the market started working again.
Perhaps the extra filtering of the router blocking was interfering?
