If you are an Indian Telecom user (Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Tata Indicom, Docomo, Reliance etc.), Then you are in luck for some free offers. With the launch of MNP – Mobile Number portability, these telecom companies are doing everything to retain their customer base.
I thought of checking with one of the service provider(Airtel) , if I want to switch around to other company.
And it came as no surprise, upon asking them to switch to other operator, Airtel gave me a “Airtel Surprise Offer”. They offered me 10p/minute for one month!
To send the magic SMS
Send “PORT <your-mobile-number>” TO 1900
and in sometime you will get a SMS with some transfer code(ignore it, if you are fine with your provider).
I researched a little bit and found that your Airtel Surprise can be free talktime, special call rates, free sms etc.
I am not too sure about other operators but if you also got such offer on Vodafone, Idea, Tata Docomo etc. Tell Us in comments below.

i m a bit cnfused. I send tat sms n i got 30 rs talk time on docomo carier but wn i trid on my frind’s cel tn nthing hapend. Nt only 1 but i trid on many docomo nmbrs. Tn y only i ws rewarded!
Its because you are a more valued customer to them.
And secondly mobile number portability is only allowed on numbers older than 3 months – make sure those numbers were old enough!

hey buddies,,,,,,once i tried this in docomo….they gave me a recharge offr….recharge 50…and get a talk time of 100……and i hav tried it with ma anthr frnd…he got recharge offr 100 and a talktime of 200

Dileep, you won’t get any balance.. but a call from your operator and they’ll try to persuade you to not leave their network. And will give you some offers as mentioned!

Just wait, your operator will call you asking why you want to leave their network? Tell them that plan is costly and you are switching to a competitor. After that they will ask you about plan you are getting (tell them 1paisa/2sec no rent) and they will offer theirs to you (ask them if they have any more plans, and select the best one).
